Tips For Getting Started With Your Website Design

There’s a few important things to keep in mind if you’re going to make your online presence a profitable return on your investment. Some of this may seem pedantic, but if you want a competitive edge for the least possible spend, it’s worthwhile considering these factors from the beginning.

Domain Name Registration

Registering your domain name is a simple process.  You can register your domain name with a domain registrar and if you’re using a .com.au domain you’ll need an ABN to complete the process.

The domain name you choose is important because it plays a role in both customer perception and search engine relevance.

Let me explain… in my opinion, having your business name as the domain name creates a consistent professional presence on the web.  There’s also good evidence that having relevant keywords for your service in your domain name signals the search engine about your business’ relevance to what the user is searching for.  This can be a balancing act and needs to be considered.

Website Hosting

This is where your website files live.  The website’s hosting is important for 2 reasons.  The 1st is user experience.  If your users wait to get the information they need, they’ll go somewhere else to get it.  The 2nd reason is that Google places significant value on your website’s response in order to decide whether it should include your website in the 1st page results.  So a quick server for the website hosting is mandatory.

Website Design & Strategy

Implementing your website design strategy that’s suitable for your business requires a decent amount of forethought.  I say this because in order to actually produce a return on your investment you need to be able to drive traffic to the site and then convert that traffic into leads or sales.

You do this by ranking well in the search engines (which we call organic traffic) and driving paid traffic via Google Adwords, Facebook Ads, Instagram Ads & other social media platforms. Here’s where it gets interesting. Both of these methods examine the way your page looks for relevance, user engagement & conversion rates.  In the case of paid traffic, the better your website is the less it actually costs you to drive the traffic.

This is just the beginning.  The user experience itself is the real art. Getting user engagement on your content will actually get you more organic traffic from the search engines and also give your seo a boost.  They track all of the activity and reward your website by ranking it higher in the search results.

So making sure that you’re taking these things into account from the beginning means you won’t have to redo large sections of your website in order to see a great return on your investment.
